Career Coach - Telework (Work from Home) Opportunity!

Summary Education and Career Coaches provide support to military spouses through the Military OneSource Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) Program Contract. Coaches connect Military Spouses with academic and employment resources/opportunities in which they may be qualified through information and referral services delivered through a telework (work from home) environment.

**NOTE: The start date for this position is late summer/early fall**

Responsibilities:

  • Provide educational, career and employment coaching on education sources and portable career options. Scope includes: education and training requirements; opportunities for online and distance education and training; tools for school selection and financial assistance decision making; school admission requirements; salary potential and projected geographic growth of career fields and occupations; portability of career choices; state, local and federal occupational licensing and credentialing requirements and associated costs; job search assistance; and assistance with resume preparation using the MySECO website resume builder and other Government approved tools
  • Primary tasks for this role may include; Interpreting career assessments, assisting with career planning, providing resume reviews, conducting phone and video mock interviews, offering job search strategies and planning and presenting career education workshops
  • Additional duties include assisting Service Providers in accessing services for their military spouse clients including information and referral for spouses that are provided services through individual installations
  • The call center’s hours of operation are Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM(EST), and Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM(EST) and holidays. Your specific schedule will be determined by the Coaching Services Manager In order to be considered for this position, you must have Internet service with speeds in excess of 3Mb in both directions (upload and download) through a broadband internet service (e.g. Cable, Fios, etc. As opposed to DSL, Satellite, dial-up)

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • This position requires a Master’s degree in Education, Adult Education, Vocational Counseling, Human Services or related field with 4+ years professional experience in education, career and/or employment coaching
  • Candidates must have an active certification in one of the following: the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWPD), Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP), the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), or the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential)
  • Candidates must have strong technology skills
  • Candidates must have the ability to develop rapport with clients over the phone and utilize excellent communication skills
  • Candidates must also be able to utilize effective active listening skills to understand the needs of the client, analyze the situation and provide appropriate resources and support to make the best possible career choice
  • Must have superior writing skills and close attention to detail coupled with the ability to work in a fast paced, time restricted, results oriented environment

Preferences:

  • Preference for candidates with professional experience as a career counselor or career coach
  • Preference for Candidates with experience working in a call centers or service operations environment
  • Preference for former Military or Military Spouse or Veteran or Wounded Warrior
