Under the general supervision of Director of Accounting, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the oversight of monthly general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reports, federal grant reporting, and bank transactions. The Accounting Manager is responsible to follow financial and operational objectives which support the mission and strategies of Planned Parenthood of North Central States. The Accounting Manager is an advocate in implementing our mission of “Affirming the human right to reproductive health and freedom.”   Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Perform month end reconciliations of the balance sheet accounts as assigned.
• Responsible for month end close and general ledger maintenance.
• Maintain and audit payroll administration systems and ensure that payroll and benefit expenses are accurately transferred into the general ledger.
• Ensure all patient revenues are recorded appropriately in the general ledger.
• Title X and other federal grant reporting.
• Responsible for fund accounting.
• Prepare audit schedules and financials.
• Handle monthly reporting as assigned.
• Review internal controls as needed.
• General supervision, day to day management and oversight of select employee(s) in the Accounting Department
• All other special projects as assigned by Accounting Director & Controller.

• Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for: safety and security, confidentiality, quality assurance, compliance with current laws and regulations including HIPAA and mandated reporting, and training
• Supports and participates in:
• Common teamwork; Cooperates and works together with all co-workers,
• Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations demonstrating compassion, empathy and dignity for all
• Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers and customers regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns
• Promotes positive public image and relations of PPNCS.
• Completes requirements for acceptable attendance and timeliness to work, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

• The ability to work with diverse groups of people; knowledge and skill of Standard Accounting Practices; a high-level of accuracy; ability to manage time and meet deadlines; ability to provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.

Work Hours
Full-time, 40 hours/week. Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm
his position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, flex accounts, long-term disability, life insurance, PTO, extended illness leave, volunteer time off, paid holidays, and 403(b) retirement plan.


Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related area, or equivalent work experience 
• Two to four years of accounting experience 

Desired Qualifications:
• CPA strongly desired 
• Preferred knowledge of grant and fund accounting, including experience with Great Plains and Management Reporter software.
• Experience in staff management or supervision

• Computer skills (Excel, etc.)
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work with diverse populations
