Job Description

Title: Operations Engineer

Proactively administer all Operation systems ensuring maximum uptime and system availability to the business. The Operations Engineer will provide mid level support to all technical groups by investigating, resolving and assisting until resolution. The Operations Engineer will be responsible for the deployment of code changes, escalations, troubleshooting, standardized communications and maintenance of our virtual and physical environment. The Operations Engineer must be able to multi-task and prioritize system events according to severity and escalation procedures. Proficiency in communicating quickly and accurately in the event of production emergencies as well as familiarity navigating through Linux and Windows environments are must haves to be successful in this role. Operations is a 24/7 department and requires flexibility to work a combination of day, evening and/or third shift as needed for maintenance nights and patching. The Operations Engineer will also serve as a mentor to junior staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring of Linux and Windows Virtual\Physical environments hosting various web, mobile and telephony platforms using NAGIOS application monitoring system
  • Receive production and staging escalations and resolve via troubleshooting, communication, and subsequent updates
  • Responsible for monitoring and administration of Virtual environment through VMware Horizon View
  • Administer implementations, upgrades and patches using Shavlik and Coordinate patching virtual/physical Environment (VMware Virtual servers, desktops, and ESXi Hosts)
  • Initiate emergency conference bridge calls and sending quick and accurate outage notifications
  • Responsible for communication between departments, vendors and partners as a central repository for information regarding production site, Customer Support, Help Desk and Core Systems issues
  • Responsible for restoring, troubleshooting and working with Commvault backup solution
  • Ability to take on projects and communicate across various departments in a collaborative effort
  • Assist other department projects when needed including Linux, Nimble storage, Print Logic, telephony and Networking
  • Deployment of development code across multiple environments for various business groups (all builds/releases communicated accordingly and applied to Staging/Production environments)
  • Familiar with Linux CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu (Minimal support efforts)
  • Responsible for deployment of Linux changes through Jenkins/ Chef/ Gitlab/ Rundeck
  • Provide application Support for and Windows Server 2008R2/2012R2 (including virtual server builds)
  • Develop job aids for internal usage to assist in knowledge of system functionality and support (Standard Operating Procedures. (SOP’s))
  • Monitoring and administration of change management policies and procedures through Service Now
  • Responsible for Imaging Windows and MAC OS devices
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Zoom Room technology issues for onsite/offsite facilities

Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical team members
  • Ability and willingness to work a varied/inconsistent schedule including weekend and overnight shifts
  • Knowledgeable working with internal and external monitoring systems
  • Knowledge of computer and network systems, applications, procedures and techniques
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify system malfunctions and operational issues
  • Working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server (2008R2 and 2012)
  • Knowledgeable with Active Directory administration
