Job Description

PennyMac’s Executive Leadership Summer Intern Program (“ELSIP”) is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in the financial services industry and develop technical, analytic and interpersonal skills that will help you advance your career. This 10-week program begins with a three-day formal training program designed to introduce you to essential financial concepts and orient you to the various facets of a leading mortgage company. During the program, you will be guided by managers and mentors who will help you learn about the mortgage industry and what you can expect if you choose to launch your career at PennyMac. This program offers the opportunity to collaborate with other ELSIP interns and PennyMac professionals through a series of training, networking and social events. The program culminates with a capstone project that you will present to a group of your peers, your team and the PennyMac senior leadership team.

You will receive division-specific training, significant responsibility and numerous project assignments while you work alongside our executive management team and leaders in groups such as:

  • Capital Markets
  • Contract Finance
  • Corporate Development
  • Correspondent Lending
  • Credit Risk Management
  • Financial Analysis & Valuation
  • Internal Audit
  • Investor Relations
  • Marketing
  • Portfolio Strategy

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent work experience
  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a graduation timeframe of December 2013 or June 2014 in one of the following majors: Business Administration, Information Management, Economics, Finance or Accounting.
  • Minimum 3.0 grade point average
  • Paid internship program
  • Internship does not provide relocation or student housing expenses.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and SQL is a plus)
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Skills in solving problems, making decisions, and resolving conflicts
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communications
  • High standard of professionalism
