POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for supporting Lab Operations within the R&D department through performing routine and non-routine lab maintenance including plate washers, plate readers, cold storage units, scheduling equipment repairs, and record keeping on all equipment, repair activities, and maintenance schedules.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize, schedule, and perform daily, weekly, monthly, or annual maintenance of laboratory equipment and the schedule for equipment repairs.
  • Collect data output from lab instruments and document maintenance events; develop and maintain equipment logs.
  • Perform general lab maintenance, including restocking laboratory supplies and waste disposal in BSL-2 labs.
  • Perform other laboratory administration procedures and duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety regulations, personal protective equipment requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and Good Manufacturing Procedures.
Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in scientific field with a minimum of 3 years of industry laboratory experience or equivalent education and experience combined.
  • Work experience with Biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) is highly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • General laboratory terminology, proper lab equipment handling practice, and safe work practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, and familiarity with MS Office tools.
  • Trouble-shooting skills and ability to communicate issues/problems and results that impact schedules, accuracy and reliability of data, and quality.
  • Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of attention to detail, highly motivated and organized.
  • Creativity and flexibility including the ability to multi-task and work productively in a dynamic research environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to take initiative and independently complete assignments with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the work place.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Standard biology laboratory environment with chemical and biological reagents up to BSL-2.
