Description POSITION SUMMARY:

The Service Engineer will be responsible for installation, preventive maintenance, and all other instrument services for MSD equipment in their assigned region. They will also be responsible for maintaining complete and accurate records for services rendered. Extensive travel is to be expected.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Installation of MSD instruments at client sites
• Service, repair and perform preventive maintenance on MSD instruments in the field
• Assess maintenance needs and implement a plan of action for instrument service
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date record log for services rendered
• Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements
Requirements EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate degree is highly preferred
o Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree
• Minimum 5 years of experience in field service
• A background in the life science drug discovery marketplace is a plus
• Familiar with ISO Standards and Good Manufacturing Practices
• Experience using basic hand tools and inspection equipment required
• A demonstrated level of consistency in performance and aptitude for managing additional responsibility and accountability are required for next level consideration

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Working knowledge of instrument repair with a strong understanding of mechanical dynamics
• Strong mechanical/electrical fundamentals and analytical background
o Logical problem solving and demonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashion
• Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
o Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact schedules, accuracy and reliability of data, and product quality
• Possess excellent organizational skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and other related software
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding production environment with changing priorities
o Ability to independently complete assignments with minimal supervision

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the work place
• Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position may require up to 80% travel within the designated territory, being present at customer sites up to four/five days a week.
