MannKind Corporation is currently seeking a Facilities Mechanic.  This position will be responsibile for operating, maintainining, troubleshooting and repairing refrigeration and mechanical systems associated with the bulk process, freeze dryers, and other manufacturing equipment.  Other responsibilities will include locating and diagnoses failures, replacing defective components, and performing basic troubleshooting using standard electronic equipment, detailed drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, prints, manuals, and verbal and/or written instructions.  Maintain appropriate maintenance and repair logs.  Use a variety of hand, power, and test tools and equipment.  May redesign refrigeration, vacuum, electrical, electronic, or mechanical systems for incorporation on existing manufacturing equipment.  Execute preventative maintenance work orders.  May estimate labor and equipment costs and prepare requisitions as required.  Work in multiple room environments including noisy, dusty, and GMP clean rooms.  Requires heavy lifting, handling of chemicals, and general computer skills.

  • Responsible for the repair and maintenance of refrigeration equipment (freeze dryers) and other bulk manufacturing related equipment (tanks, motors, pumps, heat exchangers).
  • Responsible for compliance to all refrigeration regulations including the inventory of all refrigerant use and the repair of leaks in equipment or systems.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date records related to the maintenance (scheduled or not) of manufacturing related systems and components.
  • Inspection of equipment operations on a daily basis.
  • Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines.
  • Responsible for observing all Company, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines.

Duties and responsibilities are not limited to the work listed above and may include other assignments as necessary. Training will be provided for equipment specific operatons.


High School diploma/GED plus 5-7 years of related experience with certification in assigned area required or the combination of experience and training

Certificate from a Vocational or Trade School

Must possess a Refrigerant CV 1 & 2 license

Working knowledge of cGMP procedures preferred

5+ years experience in a maintenance position with responsibility for operating and maintaining refrigeration equipment, preferably in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry

PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) experience preferred

Computer Literate

Valid driver’s license; use of personal vehicle may be required

Willing to perform other related tasks as needed

Able to work with minimal supervision

Ability to start, stop, and operate all equipment

Willing to be on an emergency standby schedule

Willing to train the right candidate but must have refrigeration experience or have attended school, refrigeration license, etc.
