Position Summary:

MannKind Corporation is currently seeking a Finance Manager that will be responsible for providing business partner support to MannKind-United Therapeutics (MNKD-UT) alliance and will report directly to the VP of Finance. The ideal candidate will drive performance relative to strategic alliance priorities while minimizing risks. S/he will execute accurate reporting to enable alliance leadership to analyze options and make sound financial decisions.  S/he will be the key financial liaison between the Director of Alliance, Project Management, Manufacturing, Accounting, R&D and other alliance key stakeholders. S/he will have excellent communication skills, proven accounting and finance work experience, a firm understanding of GAAP, superb analytical abilities and an incredible attention to detail.  This position will be based in our corporate headquarters in Westlake Village, CA. Job Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and ensure accurate and timely delivery of month-end close activities, monthly reports, accruals, balance sheet reviews, cash / P&L forecasts, and annual budget preparation.
  • Monitor, track and proactively report alliance performance and investments, identifying issues, opportunities and challenges.
  • Ensure accuracy of pass-through costs and invoicing between alliance partners
  • Interact with key business leaders/stakeholders to communicate financial performance and solutions.
  • Drive and cultivate collaborative relationships with alliance key stakeholders and other finance colleagues to facilitate an understanding of key business drivers.
  • Responsible for identifying areas of opportunity for improvement in process to drive positive change.
  • Support finance partners in the ongoing tracking performance versus expectations, identify opportunities to accelerate accomplishments and providing recommendations for corrective actions
  • Ensure an effective control environment, compliance with GAAP and corporate policies and provide support for regular internal and external audits


  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting, CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of FP&A experience in biotech and/or pharma industry with experience supporting a manufacturing & technical operations organization
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details; ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; highly proficient in Excel based modeling
  • Experience with ERP systems and associated planning and reporting tools
  • Superior analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Experience performing ad hoc financial analysis and building complex financial models / forecasts
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with the ability to think strategically.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work within teams and influence personnel across functions and levels
  • This position may require up to 20% of domestic travel.
