Title Corporate Controller

Description

MannKind Corporation is currently seeking a Corporate Controller. The incumbent will be responsible for managing and implementing all aspects of the Finance and Accounting organization. The Controller position will report directly to the Principle Accounting Officer and will provide continuous direction, leadership and process improvement in all key corporate finance and accounting activities to ensure a first-class organization and controlled environment.

  • Provide timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements for executive management, Board of Directors, shareholders, Audit Committee, Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), and other regulatory agencies in accordance with governing accounting principles (GAAP/IRFS)
  • Lead company activities to ensure compliance with SEC and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) rules and regulations
  • Implement financial systems and internal cost controls to ensure the assets of the Company are being protected
  • Coordinate and manage the external audit and annual tax preparation process in conjunction with external auditors and tax advisors, including facilitation of the audit, negotiation of audit fees, communication with senior management and the Audit Committee
  • Ensure compliance with all tax reporting requirements including income tax, sales tax and employment taxes
  • Provide ongoing balance sheet analyses to provide improve cash flow and controls
  • Assist in reviewing accounting impact of proposed corporate transactions, including financings, partnerships, collaborations and M&A activity
  • Work with Finance team related to any collaborations or alliances specifically the current Joint Afrezza Committee and work closely with Alliance Management
  • Increase the effective use of financial information systems to better support business decisions
  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to continually develop department employees in a collaborative, supportive manner to optimize compiling and consolidating financial results to better support the annual business planning and budgeting process
  • Responsible for observing all Company, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines

Requirements
  • BA/BS required, MBA preferred 
  • CPA required
  • At least 4 years of big 4 public accounting experience 
  • Experience in a public company necessary 
  • 8+ years of proven success in the biotech/pharmaceutical and/or life sciences
  • Experience in managing all aspects of a corporations accounting, finance and tax function, including in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven leadership experience in managing employees/team
  • Be able to travel to East Coast
