Summer Intern – Exploring ASOs

We are currently looking for a summer intern for 2019 to assist our Neuro Drug Discovery department with a project in exploring ASOs. RNase H ASOs are great for RNA knock down but we need additional mechanisms for robust protein upregulation. We are exploring new mechanisms to upregulate proteins or to enhance the known protein upregulation mechanisms. These studies may uncover novel strategies to increase protein expression and may allow us to work on therapeutic targets for which an upregulation strategy is required. In addition, the intern will also learn cell culture and transfection of oligonucleotides, protein measurement assays such as ELISA and western blot, RNA extraction and qPCR, and acquire a basic understanding of ASO technology.

Program Highlights:

  • Paid positions
  • Designed to complement a student’s undergraduate studies with relevant, hands-on industry experience
  • End of program project presentations
  • Housing assistance available for eligible, out-of-state interns
  • Activities and team building events

Requirements:

  • MUST have a High School Diploma or GED
  • MUST be currently enrolled in a U.S. Undergraduate Degree Program and not graduating prior to the completion of the Ionis internship
  • MUST be able to begin internship between 6/04/2019 and 6/11/2019
