Principal Research Pathologist


Seeking an Investigational Research Pathologist to join our growing Research & Drug Discovery organization. Incumbent will be an innovative leader at Ionis and will work closely with lab scientists, Franchise Leaders, and Senior Executives to advance the Ionis Drug Discovery platform.


  • Develop a state-of-the-art pathology & histology program
  • Develop new methodologies for research and drug discovery investigation
  • Provide effective leadership to the histology group
  • Other responsibilities as assigned


  • MD or PhD with post-doctoral research in a relevant discipline
  • American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) Board Certification in anatomic pathology strongly desired
  • 6+ years of industry experience with strong achievement record
  • Ability to critically evaluate and interpret experimental results and implement to research initiatives based on experience and published literature
  • Ability to work independently, build productive cross-functional collaborations, and multi-task
  • Demonstrated strong management skills
  • Strong working knowledge of state-of-the-art database tools and tools necessary to effectively query literature and public databases
  • An ability to be productive and successful in an intense work environment
