||Principal Engineer - Process
||BASIC FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Principal Engineer possesses expert knowledge in a particular process and will function as a process specialist providing technical back-up to the Process Directors.
The Principal Engineer can, and does as required, perform complete process design. He/She must be thoroughly familiar with instrumentation/process control philosophy and have expert knowledge of process equipment, materials of construction and unit operations.
The Principal Engineer shall work with the Lead Safety in Design Engineer, Process Director and the Discipline Chief – Process & SID to plan the work, prepare the work schedule, and shall report the work progress in the established manner.
The Principal Engineer typically serves as the Lead Process Engineer on projects, proposals or studies. When functioning as the Lead Engineer on a project, the Principal Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager to perform process engineering and
design work on schedule and in compliance with contractual obligations, developing when necessary change notices to cover variations to the original work scope. The Principal Engineer shall be fully responsible for the technical work and conformance with job
requirements and shall direct the work of other engineers assigned to him/her. The Principal Engineer shall check calculations and drawings for conformity with design requirements and shall be responsible for the preparation and checking of process documentation.
The Principal Engineer shall be responsible for the review of other disciplines and vendor drawings and documentation. The Principal Process Engineer should be able to interface with engineers from other departments to further explain process concepts and
be a recognized internal resource for validating engineering work products to ensure compliance with process design.
The Principal Process Engineer has approval authority of process documents, as required by approval responsibility and distribution matrix. Principal Engineers shall assist in the technical development of other engineers and shall provide technical assistance
to Business Development and Completions Departments as required.
• Bachelors Degree (minimum) in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Licensed Professional Engineer by exam (preferred)
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• 10 to 15 years of experience
• Specialist Knowledge in a specific technology area of process design.
• Ability to interface with and direct work from HVEC
• Demonstrated lead experience in medium and large studies, pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Engineering projects
• Good communication skills both oral and written
• Willingness to travel
