Summary:  Responsible for the development, management, and retention of commercial and other banking relationships with First American Bank customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Actively and proactively prospects current and potential commercial banking clients for opportunities to provide deposit, loan or other financial products and services, with an emphasis on lending in the areas of commercial & industrial, commercial real estate, income producing 1 – 4 family residential, multi-family and construction.  Cross-sells other establishment products and services as appropriate based on client suitability.
  • Ability to interact with and analyze the needs of commercial banking and other customers.  Develops strategies to meet the credit and investment needs of these individuals by selling First American Bank products directly or through referrals to other areas of the bank.
  • Develops and implements sales plans to meet goals. Develops strategies for maintaining and further expanding existing accounts.
  • Compiles loan package and facilitates negotiation of loan structure with applicant, including fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms. Approves loan within specified limits or refers loan to loan committee for approval. Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy. Assures timely loan closing and funding activities.
  • Provides the highest level of personal service to customers.
  • Sells products/services and manages client relationships in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and bank policies.
  • Informs and advises customers of status or enhancements to current account productivity, and suggests resolution on account disputes and other account activity.
  • Serves as the primary relationship manager for customers as they are developed.  Assists customers in analyzing problems and proposing solutions.  Responds promptly to issues, questions or concerns.  Coordinates the involvement of appropriate bank staff in customer relationship.
  • Seeks out opportunities for generating new fee income using a variety of referral sources.
  • Actively seeks involvement in the overall growth of the entire bank through proactive involvement in all bank activities.  Actively involved in the community as a representative of First American Bank in civic and community functions.
  • Advises Executive Management and the Credit department of external factors that may affect establishment lending policies, such as new or revised legislation and regulations.  Recommends and implements appropriate changes to establishment policies and procedures.
  • Works collaboratively with  Executive Management and Credit department to ensure credit structure is sound and the risk rating system is accurate at the loan level.
  • Ensures loan and deposit production are consistent with market goals.
  • Manages the Commercial Pipeline and Prospect lists for the market.
  • Makes recommendations to improve processes and procedures.
  • Monitors and manages the market’s technical exceptions and provides appropriate leadership to correct deficiencies.
  • Works collaboratively with all business partners.
  • Promptly identifies and reports to Executive Management any deterioration in loan quality.
  • Regularly drives to offsite locations for business development calls and client meetings.

Education/Experience:  Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; plus 5 years of commercial banking experience (VP) OR 10 or more years of commercial banking experience (SVP) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  MBA, CPA, or JD preferred.  

Certificates and Licenses:  Becoming registered with the National Mortgage Licensing System will be required.  A valid driver's license required.
