Education and Qualifications:

Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED preferred, must be 18 years old by start date. Must have a current Ellis and Associates Lifeguarding License, Special Facilities License is preferred. A minimum of 1 year of experience within the department is required, 2-3 years of experience within the department is preferred. Outside management and/or leadership experience is preferred, but not required. Must be organized, have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, and have the ability to follow and enforce policies and procedures. Must be committed to providing excellent customer service. Must have basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Must be committed to providing excellent customer service. Must maintain a neat appearance, be well groomed, dressed in proper uniform, and handle self in a professional manner.


Job Summary:

The Lifeguard Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Lifeguard Department including staff management, training, and scheduling. He/she will be responsible for scheduling employees, leading in-service trainings, monitoring break times/child labor laws, and resolving guest complaints in a quick and efficient manner. The incumbent must be mature, responsible, and honest with a proven track record within the Lifeguard Department.

Reports to: Director of Aquatics; Assistant Director of Aquatics

Responsible for: Lifeguards, Admission Team Members

Essential Job Functions:

1. Anticipates, recognizes, and responds to aquatic emergencies.
2. Assists in the daily operation of the waterpark including staff oversight.
a. Strictly maintains regulations set by Ellis and Associates
b. Monitors staff performance and behavior through daily quick notes and quick checks
c. Performs opening and closing duties as outlined in the department manual
d. Assists with VAT testing and documentation
e. Reports and records any tardiness, company/department violations, and /or child labor law violations to department director
f. Conducts daily staff meetings
g. Assigns lifeguards to rotation positions
h. Monitors staff breaks and makes sure all lifeguards are in proper rotation positions
i. Reports disciplinary issues and department/company violations to Lifeguard Manager(s)
j. Assists lifeguards as needed.
3. Assists Director and Manager(s) with weekly in-services.
a. Makes recommendations to the department director on training topics
b. Helps with teaching and training throughout the in-service.
4. Monitors water quality, notifies department director immediately of any concerns.
5. Communicates effectively with staff and customers.
6. Provides friendly, polite, and courteous service to all park guests.

2. Report to and from work at assigned time.

3. Complete other duties assigned.

4. Must be honest and reliable.

5. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Provide help and support to co-workers on an ongoing basis.
