• Can handle many basic design problems usually done by an engineer and shows a high degree of drafting ability with project organization experience.
• Follows the instructions of the project engineer yet is also innovative in establishing the most effective means of accomplishing project objectives.
• Under limited supervision, following general instructions and with some discretion as to work details, performs design preparation tasks such as schematics; interconnects lists; loop diagrams; piping, foundation, civil and structural plans, sections and details; wire lists, etc.
• Complexity involves tasks such as overall design drawing layouts, P&ID layout, wiring schematics and instrument loop diagrams.
• Conducts parts searches, utilizing engineering and vendor data. Use of computers/CAD equipment.

Minimum of High school diploma/G.E.D with additional specialized/technical training or some college courses and 8 to 10 years experience required. Associate Degree and 10 to 12 years experience preferred.

Supervises associates who do not supervise. Leads one or more associate performing similar work. Allocates and monitors the work of others. Trains and/or provides advice/guidance to lower level positions.
• Communication Skills - Day-to-day communication with other Burrow Global associates. Uses existing form letters and prepared examples, and fills out forms.
• Creativity/Innovation - Produces original work (i.e., drawings, calculations, etc.) using standard procedures or methods, based on sketches or ideas from others. May develop ideas resulting in improvements to existing methods, products, or services.
• Teamwork Skills - Frequent coordination, communication, and/or team problem solving within the project/group for work production or service quality.
• Project Team - Participates in project teams. Average duration of projects is six months to one year. May work on more than one project at one time.
• Work Planning - Plans work for the position only.
• Problem Solving - Problems are generally defined, but additional information is required to make appropriate decisions affecting other projects. There is some latitude in decision making, but decisions are reviewed by supervisor.
• Customer/Vendor Contact - Occasional customer/vendor contacts requires this job to provide general assistance and give or receive information.
• Knowledge/Skills - Understands and uses the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization. Must be able to perform tasks that are varied and that may be somewhat difficult in nature, but usually involves limited responsibility, such as accurately reading and interpreting drawings, performing geometric, trigonometric, or basic mathematical calculations, and/or using surveying equipment, and techniques. Requires operating knowledge of electronic or computer equipment, if used in performing daily tasks.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The associate frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The associate is occasionally required to taste or smell.
The associate must occasionally climb stairs and ladders, some to a height of over 100 feet; and work outdoors for extended periods for field work. If a CAD Operator, the associate must occasionally sit at a computer for up to 10 hours a day.

The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, but the associate is occasionally exposed to very loud noise.
