Description OVERVIEW:

Under close supervision and direction of the Project Manager, the Project Engineer manages and/or coordinates project activities as assigned. Responsibilities would include the following:
• Provide overall direction to engineering design team in a matrix environment to assure integrated and complete designs that meet project requirements.
• Assists in the Creation and coordination of project man hour estimates and budgets, and monitors progress and cost performance.
• Prepares project procedures for performance of administrative, project and design tasks in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents and bid packages.
• Assist the Project Manager in the creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitors activities, progress and milestones.
• Exercise cost consciousness with all designs to ensure that technical decisions are economically sound. Alert Project Manager of project variances and changes not in original project scope.
• Approve related vendor design information and drawings.
• Prepare or cause to be prepared specifications, inquiries, technical bid evaluations, purchase specifications, purchase requisitions, and material take-off.
• Prepare Scope Change Notices and change orders.
• Review drawings before they are issued.
• Prepare documentation for meetings or communications concerning project contractual or technical issues.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must have knowledge of engineering design and project organizational skills required to the complete assignments.
• Knowledgeable enough to supervise the preparation of design calculations, equipment selection, preparation of design criteria or parameters for all disciplines.
• Proficient typing skills.
• Clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
• Interacting with others in a way that gives them confidence in one's intentions and those of the organization.
• Establishing courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
• Accomplishing tasks by considering all areas involved, no matter how small; showing concern for all aspects of the job; accurately checking processes and tasks; being watchful over a period of time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Minimum 6 years of experience in the oil and gas chemicals industry.
• Completed required in-house project management courses or education gained through additional university courses.
• Minimum 1 year of project engineering experience including the performance of functional tasks on EPC type projects with an understanding of procedures and interfaces and implementation steps.
• B.S Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises associates who do not supervise. Leads two or more associates performing similar work. Allocates and monitors the work of others. Trains and/or provides advice/guidance to lower level positions
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Communication Skills - Day-to-day communications with other Company associates. Leads meetings and makes formal presentations to others both inside and outside the Corporation. Drafts original letters, and prepares reports. Also uses existing form letters and prepared examples, and fills out forms.
• Creativity/Innovation - Handles a variety of unrelated problems or situations requiring versatility and imagination, and resulting in important decisions controlling the operation and planning of a major activity, project, or group.
• Teamwork Skills - Extensive ongoing coordination, communication, and/or team problem solving between projects or function areas for work production or service quality.
• Project Team - Leads a part of a project (e.g., directs a subteam or evaluation of a specific issue). Average duration of a project is six months to one year. May work on more than one project at one time.
• Work Planning - Develops plans for achieving goals that are defined by others.
• Problem Solving - Problems are unclear and require analysis to define. Some research and study is necessary to present solutions to problems. Decisions are made with greater freedom and discretion and may affect major functions of a project or the business.
• Customer/Vendor Contact - Frequent customer/vendor contact providing services which involve researching solutions to respond to customer/vendor complaints or issues as well as meeting personally with the customer/vendor is required.
• Knowledge/Skills - Requires a comprehensive knowledge of a particular field of specialization to completion of complex assignments. Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality, ingenuity, and a general knowledge of the skills and requirements of other disciplines. May act in a liaison capacity with other projects/groups, divisions and organizations.

The associate must occasionally climb stairs and ladders, some to a height of over 100 feet; and work outdoors for extended periods for field work. If a CAD Operator, the associate must occasionally sit at a computer for up to 10 hours a day.

The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, but the associate is occasionally exposed to very loud noise.
