Summary:  

This position will provide data management support for trauma staff across multiple areas.  The data analyst will provide support for the TQIP data quality process, assist in the production of TQIP benchmark reports, produce established recurring as well as custom datasets, create tabular and graphical data summaries and reports for a variety of goals related to data quality and performance improvement along with other activities related to trauma research, NTDB, TQIP and TQIP Participant Use File. The ideal candidate is proficient with SAS data management and graphics procedures and SQL and has familiarity with relational databases and the healthcare industry.

 

This Exempt position will report to the Senior Statistician in the Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide comprehensive support for all TQIP data quality activities.

 

  • Develop, validate, maintain, organize and execute SAS code in support of data analyses for a variety of Trauma Programs:
    • Create data listings filtering and aggregating according to request specifications
    • Create tabular data summaries according to request specifications
    • Create graphical data summaries according to request specifications
    • Transpose, merge, stack, and aggregate data from multiple sources (relational database)
    • Implement and program database quality controls

 

  • Perform, plan and co-ordinate the development, implementation and validation of new process technologies, macros and applications:
    • Ensure validation plan is in place and implemented
    • Identify and address opportunities for improvement in quality/efficiency
  • Follow and optimize existing programming infrastructure, which includes harmonizing programming, business processes and related SOPs to increase efficiency and accuracy.

 

  • Document management:
    • Collect, refine and write project requirements
    • Conduct technical assessment of change requests to code, reports, and data sets
    • Implement and document approved change requests

 

  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required; Masters degree is preferred.
  • One- two years of relevant programming experience preferred.
  • SAS programming skills including general data management, SQL, graphics, data merging and transpositions, macro language.
  • Experience with PROC MEANS, FREQ, REPORT, TABULATE.
  • Experience with ODS output management in terms of report creation.
  • Solid understanding of the basics of relational databases, business intelligence and data warehousing technology.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to effectively interact with all levels of organization.
  • Capable of providing excellent customer service.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Display high level of energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with all division teams and management.

Physical/Work Environment: Fast paced with significant people interaction. No lifting over 20 pounds, minimal reaching bending and stooping. Performs work in a normal office environment with long hours in front of the computer.

Other Necessary Requirements:  Occasional travel for activities such as out of town meetings is required.
