Summary:

Under the direction of the Operation Giving Back (OGB) Program Director, administers all aspects of the OGB Program.

This Exempt Level position will report to the Medical Director, Operation Giving Back in the Division of Member Services.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assistant to OGB Program Director
o Serve as a designated expert and primary contact for program.
o Assist Program Director in strategic planning.
o Provide administrative support to OGB program including the Surgical Volunteerism and Humanitarian Awards Workgroup.
o Assist in planning networking functions and other forums for surgeons interested in volunteerism, research potential funders, develop marketing materials.
o Participate in collaborative networking meetings and events as needed, including staffing the OGB booth at Clinical Congress and related meetings.

• OGB Partner Liaison
o Liaison between the OGB and 100+ partner organizations.
o Evaluate new prospects as potential partners through research/preparation of detailed reports.
o Actively manage partner relations including frequent communications.
o Maintain records documenting partner interactions and posting.

• Database Manager
o Maintain, edit, and enhance on-line database and OGB website resources.
o Research and develop content in conjunction with OGB partner organizations.
o Serve as primary point of contact for website related questions/feedback.
o Liaison with website developers for technical issues and updates; troubleshoot, text, etc.
o Analyze and develop new strategies for improved content management and delivery.
o Track and evaluate web analytics monthly.

• Communications/Presentations/Grant Writing
o Identify grant funding opportunities and manage all aspects of grant submissions.
o Develop regular communications to ACS members in ACS communication vehicles.
o Develop and/or conduct presentations on OGB at conferences and events.

• Disaster Response
o Collect and maintain data on potential volunteers for response efforts to disasters.
o Communicate and collaborate with other individuals and organizations responding during such crises.
o Assimilate information on disaster relief efforts.
o Collect and distribute relevant materials to other members of the surgical team.
o Attend meetings with key stakeholders.

• Research/Data Analyst
o Assist Program Director in researching, synthesizing, and presenting healthcare literature for journal articles, presentations, reports, etc.

• Other duties as assigned
Requirements Required Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required. Master’s Degree and above preferred.

• Degrees in Public Health, Non-Profit management, Education or a related field are preferred.

• A minimum of 4+ years’ professional experience in a related field is required.

• Grant writing skills preferred.

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to effectively interact with all levels of organization.

• Ability to take initiative, work independently, learn new information and skills quickly, and think creatively and strategically.

• Strong editing and writing skills.

• Capable of providing excellent customer service.

• Attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Must be able to multi-task.

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Internet skills. Advanced computer skills helpful.

• Website maintenance (use of content management systems, HTML, etc.)

• Multiple software’s (Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Zotero or other bibliographic databases, MailChimp, Eventbrite, etc.)

• Display high level of energy and thrive in a fast paced environment.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team.

• Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

• Ability to establish strong working relationships with all division teams and management.

• Experience in Associations, non-profits, professional services, healthcare, and/or education desired.

Fiscal Management: This position is required to provide staff support to the supervisor in the development of the unit’s annual budget, program or project budget. This position is required to consult with supervisors about the status of the project or program budgets.

Physical/Work Environment: Fast paced with significant people interaction. No lifting over 20 pounds, minimal reaching bending and stooping. Normal office environment with long hours in front of the computer.

Other Necessary Requirements: Evening or weekend duties may be required. Minimal travel for activities such as out of town meetings is required.
