a.i. solutions is seeking a focused individual to work on the Flight Dynamics Support Services team as Task Lead to support the Landsat-9 mission for our NASA contractor. This person should have knowledge and passion for orbital mechanics. This role will have to balance performing spacecraft flight dynamics analyses, direct task activities, while also interfacing with the customer and maintaining the team’s progress along its schedule. This individual should have excellent communication skills, a firm understanding of the physics and math of spaceflight, be computer savvy, have a talent for leadership and the ability to see system-wide connections. The successful candidate will act as an integral part of the team to ensure the goal of delivering quality products and services that meet and exceed customer expectations.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide flight dynamics support for Landsat-9 including trajectory analysis, maneuver planning and performance analysis, and attitude determination
  • Coordinate Landsat-9 task technical activities and provide leadership to task personnel as the mission readies for launch in December 2020.This includes mission analysis, operations planning, team training and development, system testing, simulation support and launch and early orbit operations
  • Provide leadership to a small staff performing flight dynamics related analysis for the JPSS program as required
  • Consider and evaluate multiple approaches to solving complex trajectory-related problems, and perform trade-off analyses of feasible options
  • Present analysis results to customers, mission managers, principle investigators, international partners, or other external entities
  • Document and communicate your work to your peers and customers through informal forums as well as formally in conference and journal publications
  • Research the latest progress in flight dynamics analysis, software, and operations to grow our value to the customer on a continuous basis
  • Provide systems engineering support including requirements definition, test plan development and software testing of flight dynamics system upgrades
  • Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards
  • Contributes to the achievement of business objectives
  • Travel as required, an estimated 5%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field
  • 10+ years of previous satellite operations experience
  • U.S. citizenship
