a.i. solutions is seeking a driven individual who will support Missile Defense Agency (MDA) mission and quality assurance by participating in multi-disciplinary teams conducting quality and mission assurance evaluations and assessments for existing missile defense components and architectures. Responsibilities will involve analysis of electrical and electronic components and assemblies. The individual should have knowledge of electronic reliability and part application analyses to independently identify failures, research screening and qualification test plans, and recommend potential technical solutions for electronic components applications. The successful candidate will act as an integral part of the team to ensure the goal of delivering quality products and services that meet and exceed customer expectations.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, formulates, and executes electrical related engineering research, review, analysis, and recommendations development
  • Prepares and coordinates technical reports and publications and makes presentations to external stakeholders
  • Evaluates field implementation of quality, safety, and mission assurance policy, procedures, standards, and metrics to verify compliance, determine effectiveness, identify improvement opportunities, and refine best practices
  • Ensures EEE (electrical, electronic, and electromechanical) parts, used in manufactured MDA products, are both reliable and effective
  • Formulates, evaluates, and applies component failure mechanisms and physics of failure to identify criteria conformance issues for electrical/electronic components used in complex weapon systems
  • Supports Failure Review Boards to ensure failure analysis accounts for part or material defects
  • Investigates obsolescence and sibling issues including most common EEE parts failure modes and environments
  • Works with Quality and Safety teams to establish processes to ensure the contract meets the MDA Parts Materials and Processes Mission Assurance Plan (PMAP) and MIL-STD 883 Test Methods
  • Participates in multiple Parts, Materials and Processes Control Boards to mitigate risks of submitted Non-Standard Parts Requests (NSPARS) and Non-Standard Materials Requests (NSMARS) to ensure the guidelines are enforced
  • Supports Configuration Control Boards to ensure changes (alternates, substitutions, obsolescence) in configuration control are in accordance with MDA PMAP requirements
  • Conducts periodic travel less than 20% of the time

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in hardware development, production, test, and evaluation
  • Currently possess a DOD secret security clearance

  • Experience with microcircuit and semiconductor designs to include wire-bonding, flip-chip methods, die mounting techniques, ceramic and plastic packaging processes, lead frame and interposer applications
  • Previous applications of “Physics of Failure” for EEE part commodities
